Project Manager : Protected Sea Project

Racheal M Gideon has a working experience in Marine Ecosystem and Fisheries resource Management. She is a Project manager at Community Action for Nature Conservation under Marine Ecosystem and fisheries Proggramme implementing a project on Sustainable development Goal 14.The project titled “Protected Sea project in Coastal Kenya”, which is being implemented in Kenya, Senegal and Sweden. The project aim is to achieve better and stronger protection and to strengthen the oceans and marine ecosystems ability to recover from current stressors.

 This in turn is expected to lead to positive effects on the billions of people dependent on healthy seas for their survival. The project's tool for achieving this is to ensure that MPAs receive effective protection; that fishing is done in sustainable manner and with non-destructive fishing methods; and that marine spatial planning are founded in existing environmental goals. Including local actors enables long-term sustainable change.
